Hi! |
| Let me introduce myself. I am The Roadrunner because
driving or hitting the road is my passion. |
| I have had the good fortune to have traveled
extensively in all 50 states, sometimes with my husband
as a traveling companion, sometimes with another member of the family, and at other times with a relative
or friend from Australia. However, much of my traveling has often been solo.
Although it is always pleasant to have someone along, I never mind being on my own. |
| On various occasions over the years I have tried to
complete many of the US highways, which were a precursor
to the Interstates. I love taking back roads and seeing new places, and one might say that my travel philosophy
is best expressed by Robert Frost. |
I took the one less traveled by, |
And that has made all the difference |
| These journals are the result of making notes as
well as using a small tape recorder to tell the story of what I see along the way. |
| In conclusion I would be remiss if I did not
acknowledge my husband on two counts. He accepted my love of
travel and for this I shall always be grateful. Addtionally, the site you are veiwing is a result of his pursavsiness
to allow it to happen and his hard work and deadication to make it happen. |
| I hope you get as much pleasure reading the journals of
a roadrunner as I have in producing them. |
| NOTE: |
The format will not be the same throughout since
individual entries were prepared at different times. |
The details in all the journals are a true record but the names of people
have been changed to protect their identity. |

You ask,"What are the numbers on the maps?"
The software program I use to create the maps has a mind of its own! When I enter the starting and ending points for
each day, the route mapped out is rarely the one I have taken. Consequently the numbered points are only there to
force the program to reflect the actual route taken and need not necessarily have anything to do with the text.
